pops of color.

Dress: Zara; Shirt: Forever21; Tights: Express; Mary Janes: Enzo Angiolini; Jewelry: Express, Michael Kors, Vintage Ring

Today, it's supposed to be a high of 54...unbelievable! 54 in January! I am by no means complaining. In fact, I was so inspired by the warmth that I wanted to cover myself in pops of color. It works out nicely since bright colors are trending for Spring. I just got a little excited and ahead of myself.

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

scuba adventure.

Whooah what a weekend. It was jam packed with such fun activities with friends that I am looking back today and giggling. On Saturday morning, I went scuba diving at Aquatic Adventures with Erica and Meghan. When we first arrived and took off our coats, we realized we were all wearing the exact same outfit (totally not planned). Beyond funny! The next couple of hours were filled with laughing, swimming and underwater tea parties.

If you are looking for something different to do in the Columbus area, I recommend taking a scuba class at Aquatic Adventures. The instructors were great and the staff was super nice. Who knows...maybe I'll get scuba certified!

sparkles.

Skirt: Asos; Chambray Shirt: H&M; Boots; DSW; Necklace: RUBY by Kaley Elizabeth

Happy Friday, everyone!! What better way to end the week than with sparkles. I bought this skirt recently from Asos and I love it. It's bright, comfy and of course, sparkles.

Any fun plans this weekend? Saturday, I am going on a Scuba Adventure. This was a Christmas gift from a friend and I am beyond excited (and nervous) to get in a big pool and try out some scuba gear for the first time. Wish me luck!

on paper.

Yesterday, I visited one of the prettiest boutiques in Columbus, On Paper. This store is the definition of all things pretty and lovely. I originally went in for some ideas on custom Valentine cards and was just overwhelmed (in a good way) with walls of paper, vintage sparkles, embossers, stamps, vintage jewelry, favors, accessories and so much more. I could spend some serious time just wandering around and thinking of all the special cards I would like to make. My friend Jodi would adore this store!!

If you are ever in Columbus, I highly recommend you visit On Paper located in the Short North. If you don't live near Columbus and have a special occasion that you need invitations (or even if you don't), visit their online store.

look good, feel good, play good.

Shorts, Tights & Sweater: Forever21; Scarf: World Market; Leopard Flats: Target

For those that know me or those that don't, I work from home (explains why 95% of pics are taken from my apartment). Because of this, it's difficult to find a wardrobe that is practical yet stylish. I have always had the motto "look good, feel good, play good" so if I didn't attempt to get dressed in the morning, it would be a reflection of how my day goes.

Today, I opted for another slouchy attire with shorts, tights and a comfy sweater.

leather pants.

Pants: Guess; Bottom Down & Sweater: J. Crew; Necklace: Express; Stilettos: Chinese Laundry

I have been looking for a pair of leather pants for the past month. Everywhere I looked, the price ranged from $250 - $500 and I had no desire to spend that. So instead, I found a pair of pants from Guess that are black-coated so they appear to be leather. I love them! I will definitely find a way to incorporate these into my wardrobe any chance I get.

cinnamon and sugar donuts.

Well, I made my first attempt at homemade donuts this weekend and I can't say they were a success. I followed a recipe from SouthernPlate.com  and while the recipe seemed easy enough and the outside of the donut appeared delic, the middle did not get cooked. My reco would be to cook on lower heat for longer so that the middle has time to cook.

Better luck next time!

slouchy day.

I have literally not been able to get out of bed for the past two days. There is a virus going around that is reeking havoc and it is not pretty. Today is the first day out of bed and attempting to get back on track. Unfortunately, it is only going to last the day because it is back to bed for probably the entire weekend.

The only positive part is that I took these pics on Monday (not realizing how the rest of my week was going to go).  Happy Friday!! I hope you have a safe and sick-free weekend!!

ask kaley.

Question:

Dear Kaley,

I have a be-lated Holiday work party to go to in a week and I am struggling with what to wear.  It's at the casino in downtown Detroit, my bosses are providing a very nice set-up from a spa day, to pre-party drinks in the hotel suites, drinks and appetizers at one of the clubs and rooms for all of us.  It's going to be really nice.  However, I don't know what to wear?  I don't want to go as fancy as something I would wear to a wedding but I still want to be a little dressier then normal, it is a holiday party?!  But I don't want to be too casual, I'd like to still dress up a little.  Can you help me with some suggestions?  Maybe one dressy pant outfit, one dress/skirt outfit and one nice jean outfit?

Thanks so much! Miss you!

Answer:
I love Holiday parties! It's such a fun time to get together and chat with co-workers in a casual atmosphere. And the best part of a party, deciding what to wear!

My first impression is no jeans.  A pre-party at a Casino in the hotel suites with drinks and appetizers at one of the clubs just screams dressy. You don't have to go crazy with sequins but I definitely recommend a dress, skirt or dress pants. I have provided 3 options below. Enjoy!

Option 1:
I love this feminine fringed lace Anthropology top. The back is cut out so it provides the sexy element but still very appropriate. I would pair with a bright colored bottom, black pumps and simple accessories.

Top: Anthropology; Pants: BCBG or J. Crew

Option 2:
The classic look. You can never go wrong with a white silk button down blouse and leopard print pencil skirt. I love these options paired together! And since it is cold outside, I would add a pair of high heeled boots and some chunky accessories to pull it all together.

Shirt: Ann Taylor; Skirt: J. Crew

Option 3:
This is the definition of Holiday party. The dress is H&M and you can get a black blazer at Koh'ls (Lauren Conrad collection) for a reasonable price. The dress is rouched so it will hide any areas where you might feel uncomfortable. Add cute bracelets and a chunky necklace and work it out.

the boot.

Blazer and Striped T: Forever21; Belt: H&M; Skirt: Express (Old); Socks: Target; Boots: DSW; Watch: Michael Kors; Necklace: Express; Glasses: Bonlook

I don't know about you but I simply love when Summer turns into Fall, the leaves start to change and in the blink of an eye, it's boot season. I know I repeat myself over and over when it's drawing near that "It's almost boot time!" Because of this excitement and anticipation, I have far too many boots (according to my family) that I find the simplest excuse to wear....even when I have a sprained ankle (ask Kyle).

cold days.

Rain Boots: Style & Co.; Jeans: Michael Kors; Plaid Button-Down: Express; Cardigan & Hat: Forever21; Ring: Vintage; Necklace: RUBY by Kaley Elizabeth

It has been beyond cold lately. Snow, wind and freezing temperatures have us bundling up just to take the little lady outside. And yet, the freezing cold doesn't stop Ruby from getting excited. I guess when you have to go, you have to go.

Coming Soon: "Ask Kaley" - A very wonderful friend recommended that I add an "Ask Kaley" section to my blog where people can email me questions about what to wear to an upcoming event and then I will respond via my blog. So if you have a special occasion, dinner, birthday party or just going out with friends,  email me at kaley_hedric@hotmail.com.  I would love to hear about all the exciting events in your future and provide my styling advice.

life lately, according to my iphone.

 I read, Ruby sleeps.

Cuddle time.

Flowers from a very thoughtful man.

My fav. dinner (including homemade meatballs).

Where Ruby hangs while I work.

It is a miserably cold day and I am dreading any interaction that will require me to go outside. However on the up-side, it's Friday and I have so much to be thankful for.

Hope you have an amazing weekend!!

bold patterns.

Jacket: Francesca's Collection; Sparkles Tank: Ann Taylor; Grey Pants: Express; Jewelry, RUBY by Kaley Elizabeth, Michael Kors Watch, Custom Bracelet; Black Stilettos: Old

Today is such a gloomy day in midwest Ohio that I needed to brighten it up with sparkles and leopard print. It's not very often that I would combine such bold prints however today I was just feeling bold. Plus, it's almost the weekend and another reason to be excited.

HAPPY THURSDAY!
